ASPHALT

Asphalt Driveway:

Asphalt Driveways looks better, lasts longer and can be installed quickly.

Most people take roads and driveways for granted, and don’t consider all the benefits offered when the right material is used.

When properly implemented asphalt is better for overall drive-ability, appearance, your budget and the environment.

Driveway Lifespan:

You can expect a well-constructed and quality asphalt driveway to last between 15 – 25 years.

The lifespan of your new asphalt driveway is heavily dependent on the climate.

Increase your driveway lifespan by carrying out routine maintenance as needed.

Driveway Maintenance:

If you’ve owned or seen asphalt driveways and thought they should last longer, chances are the surface wasn’t properly maintained.

To get the most life and best appearance from an asphalt driveway, clean the driveway at least twice a year.

Use a stiff broom and strong hose spray to remove all dirt and debris.

Seal-coat the asphalt every two to five years to ensure an attractive, water-resistant surface. Cracks and holes should be repaired as soon as possible, using an appropriate Asphalt repair material or sealant.

BRICK PAVERS

Brick paver driveway:

For many of us, a beautifully paved driveway is one of those sensible home upgrades that we plan to get to “one of these days.”

Brick pavers look pretty smart when used in driveway construction, particularly when they are laid in a clever pattern.

Driveway Lifespan:

The average lifespan of brick paver driveways is +- 25 years, when properly maintained. This is similar to asphalt.

Brick pavers are made of fired clay which does weather with time. If you live in a place with a moderate climate – never too hot and never too cool – your brick pavers may last a bit longer than this.

Driveway Maintenance:

To help your pavers longevity, make sure that you regularly seal them with a sealant made specifically for this material. Other, generic sealants will actually contribute to paver deterioration.

Sealing pavers is straightforward and as a DIY project. However, feel free to contact us should the need be.

Other maintenance includes removing weeds from between each paver. This is best done with a sprayer and an anti-weed solution.

Your brick paver driveway should also be pressure cleaned once a year or so.

aSPHALT COLD SEAL COATING

If it’s time to give your driveway a little TLC or to create a new one.

There are different forms of seal coating material, but all methods work by a process of cleaning and patching the existing surface, then coating the entire surface of the asphalt with a liquid sealer that forms an impenetrable barrier once it is dry. With the surface seal coat intact, the underlying asphalt is protected from the effects of water, wind, and sunlight that can degrade and harden the asphalt and cause it to crack and crumble.

block retaining walls

Retaining walls are structures designed to restrain soil to unnatural slopes. They are used to bound soils between two different elevations often in areas of terrain possessing undesirable slopes or in areas where the landscape needs to be shaped severely and engineered for more specific purposes.

Retaining walls will help you level many sloping blocks, whether in your backyard, outdoor living area or industrial area. This can be a discreet retaining wall or a feature wall that can add style and character to your outdoor space.

There is a wide range of options when choosing a retaining walls from brick and block walls, which can be rendered or clad with a feature stone, to interlocking block walls.

GABION BASKETS

Retaining walls are extremely popular for holding back unstable embankments. Many different types of retaining walls are available, using bricks, concrete blocks, tyres, stabilized soil, wooden logs, etc. We specialise in the design and use of Gabion Baskets for retaining walls. The application uses our range of different sized baskets which are laid together, on a layer of geotextile, and laced together to form a structure that is monolithic and harmonious with nature, often using local rock and soil infill to encourage vegetation growth.

LOFFELSTEIN RETAINING BLOCKS

Is a dry stacking, interlocking retaining system. It is unique because of its versatility, adaptability and plantability. Structurally stable – no need for additional concrete infill All Löffelstein® systems are available in vertical and heavy duty applications

SAND BAGS

Sandbags are an ideal solution when it comes to soil erosion protection, and diverting flood waters away from sensitive installations or homes. Especially where there is a lock of rock for gabion installations. Sand filled bags can be stacked together quickly using locally available sand/soil. Sandbags prevent flooding and soil erosion, due to on simple fact, that sand, stone and soil being heavier than water, are not easily washed away in times of river floods.
